SANTERIA

SANTERIA: A NEW LOOK
Forget what you have heard about it. Although widely accepted in Latin America as a religion, in the United States Santeria is often negatively associated with cults. Santeria, or The Way of Saints, is an Afro-Caribbean religion that originated in the Yoruba tribe of West Africa. The European slave trade brought many of these people to the shores of Cuba, Brazil, Haiti, Trinidad and Puerto Rico, among other countries. Forced to adopt Catholicism they merged both belief systems.
